  As the treating Physician and owner of Ortega Med Spa, I welcome your interest and I invite you to explore our site and visit our facility.

  I am fortunate to have followed in my father's and brother's footsteps, in the art of medical practice. After finishing residency at the University of Illinois, I returned to my native Jacksonville and have been in practice since 1989.
  My interest in Aesthetic Medicine began after my first course in the use of Botox in 1999. This interest combined with extensive post residency training has led me to specialize in Aesthetic Medicine. I am a "results oriented" physician and strive to inform and guide patients to the very best outcome for their aesthetic concerns. My mantra is "it's not what I see...but what you would like to improve upon".   I am realistic in my recommendations, defer from "over promising" and wholeheartedly desire the very best outcome for each and every patient.

I am a member of and am Certified by The American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, The American Board of Independent Medical Examiner's, The Duval County Medical Society, The St. John's County Medical Society and The Florida Medical Association.

On a personal note, I have 2 wonderful son's ages 28 and 15 .  I speak Spanish and German, both fairly fluently. I enjoy the plethora of water oriented activities available to us, fortunate enough to live in the beautiful area of NE Florida.  Also as I've aged, I am now much more liberal with my SPF 30 & above sunscreen than in my uninformed teenage years ! 

I am the only North Florida Physician trained and certified by Dr. Alberto Sant Antonio, the innovator of SA Bodysculpture.

Shirley - M. A., Medical Aesthetician, CDP

Shirley is a specialist who provides beauty treatments to the skin in a friendly and professional manner. Shirley is trained in many clinical and restorative treatments. Shirley offers our patients anti-aging solutions as well as preventative care.

She has been a Medical Assistant for 26 yrs.  She began her career in the Plastic Surgery field. She also worked 10 yrs in the field of Neurosurgery at Baptist Medical Center.  She has assisted Dr. Houston since 1996.

As a skin-care professional, she works with clients to maintain the health of their skin as well as correct severe skin conditions using non-invasive procedures. Shirley has also earned her certification from the DNA Cryogenics Health Institute and is a DNA Practitioner

Brenda - LMT, NMT, CDP and Medical Aesthetician

Brenda has been a licensed Massage Therapist since 1996 and specializes in deep tissue and Neuromuscular Techniques. She has also been a Medical Aesthetician since 2005 in she has recieved certifications in DNA Cryogenics and intensive training in Photo Rejuvenation, laser hair removal and Synergie body treatments.

Balancing the "art" and "science" of therapeutic bodywork and sees it as an honor to provide you with a treatment that more than exceeds all your expectations during your time at Ortega Med Spa.  Enjoy results that encourage and sustain you on your journey to greater health and wellness.

Travis -LFS, Medical Aesthetician, CDP

Travis is a Medical Aesthetician who treats skin with inspired care at Ortega Med Spa. Travis’ passion, dedication, and training in innovative techniques combine to deliver the highest quality skin care. He utilizes cutting edge medical esthetics and natural healing remedies to create customized and personalized skin care solutions.  He is fully committed to the heath and wellness of our clients. 

For Travis, being able to integrate both of his passions of Spa and Medical is a dream come true.  Through this integration, he brings the highest level of ability, commitment, knowledge and care to each of our guests.

Travis has held his Licensure for 10 years. He also has earned his certification from the DNA Cryogenics Health Institute earlier this year and now adds DNA Practitioner to his growing list of qualifications.
